The poem 5 of Catullo, entitled “Vivamus mea lesbia” is one of the most celebrated poems of the entire Latin literature, praising a passionate love and careless of the judgments of others, leaves a message comparable to a “love and not to care for the judgments of others”.

Vivamus, mea Lesbia, atque amemus,
rumoresque senum severiorum
omnes unius aestimemus assis.
Soles occidere et redire possunt:
nobis cum semel occidit brevis lux,
nox est perpetua una dormienda.

dein mille altera, dein secunda centum,

English translation of Catullus 5

We live, my Lesbia, and we love,
and the reproaches of the strict old men,
let’s not give them all a penny.
The sun can set and return:
when the short light of life falls forever,
we have to sleep only one interminable night.
Give me a thousand kisses, then another hundred,
then another thousand, then for the second time a hundred,
then another thousand more, then a hundred.
Later, when we gave it thousands,
