What is a “current account” in economy?

The current account is a statement which shows the credits and debts between two parties. The type of “bank current account” is the most widespread, in which one of the two parties is the bank itself.

This is an atypical open-ended contract with which the bank undertakes to perform the cash service, performing a series of payments and collections in favor of the customer. The bank account consists of a first part, which is simply the list of all the operations carried out in the reference period in chronological order so as to also indicate the description of the transactions and the currency, ie the date from which interests begin to mature.

A second part, which is instead the document through which interest is calculated in favor of the customer and the bank.
